GliderSource.com Turns 1

It was one year ago, May 2011 that GliderSource.com officially launched and set out to provide the best classified ad site strictly for the soaring community, with the most features, instant results, and total control of your own ads.

I'd like to thank everyone who has listed items, and found what you were looking for, and of course everyone who has donated and clicked on ads to help support the site's advertising budget. GliderSource.com is an independent entity, with no support or conflict with an accompanying retail store. It is supported primarily by myself, with additional help from user contributions, and a very small ad revenue.

Special thanks go to Paul Remde of Cumulus Soaring, Inc. for his moral support and suggestions. Paul replaced his own manually operated soaring-classifieds.com site with GliderSource.com. I'd also like to thank Bob Wander, who concieved of the idea and continues to offer free shipping on any USA order from Bob's Soaring Books and Supplies for new accounts and listings. Thanks also to Bill and Rand of Soaring Cafe for encouragement and publishing an introductory article.

New Enhancement

More info and photos now on Quicklist
Check out the enhanced QuickList display. Now when you mouse-over an item on the quicklist display, additional information is displayed including the seller's name, listing date, the subtitle description, and thumbnaill image. This enhancement gives this compact listing additional information without clicking or cluttering the page.You'll also see a new icon for ads with an image available.

Detailed Ad Hit History
Account holders with ads, can now see more detail on the individual hits their full page ad displays are getting. To view ad hits (either for all of your ads, or individual ads) sign in and click the "My Ads Hit Log" in the Welcome menu at left. Hit view history is available starting March 10, 2012.

How to List

Listing is quick and easy. Your ad is available immediately, and you can edit it at any time.

Create a free account.If you already have a free account, move on to step 2.
- All it requires is a name, email, and password.
- You'll get an instant confirmation email.
- Click the link in the email to verify your email address. (this ensures your email is correct, and allows you to control your listing). Don't worry, your email address is never given out or sold.
Log in with your email addres and password
Click "Create Ad" in the menu at the left.
Write a great ad. You're not limited on space, so spare no details.
- Be a salesman: SELL your item! Give your personal experience - history, how did it work for you, let the buyer fall in love.
- Select up to 3 photos to include in your ad.
- Already have a web page with photos and details? Add the web link in the field provided too. Link to a YouTube video showing your item in action!
Click the SUBMIT button.
View your ad and click the share buttons (facebook, twitter, 1+, etc) to help spread the word about your ad.

Get the jump on new items! Create a free account and subscribe to receive a short email the moment new ads are posted. (click on My Account, then "yes" under subscrib to new listings. Or subscribe to the most recent listings through GliderSource's RSS feed .

What if I already have my item listed on another site?

Successful advertisers across many industries place their ads in many places, not just one. All soaring related ads are welcome here. But, a prominent glider classified provider does not appreciate this effort for glider and motorglider ads. Check with your current ad carrier to see if he requires exclusive handling of your ad. I think competition improves the market. What do you think?

Do I Need an account?

You don't need an account to read ads, just to post one. Here's why:our integrated contact function will email buyer messages to you without revealing your email address on the site. Of course, you always have the option of including your email address in the text of the ad. The registration process ensures the email address you provide works. Your email address in not sold, distributed, or even shown to outside parties.

Having an account also allows you to log in and exercise instant total control over your ad at any time.

An account is also required to utilize the favorites and flagging functions and to subscribe to new ads. Simply put, these functions can't work unless they know who they are are working for.

Is it Free?

Yes. However, GliderSource is an independent classified ad site. It is not supported by, nor does it compete with an accompanying retail outlet (that's why you can post anything, not just some things). If Glider Source helps you, then you can make a voluntary donation to support the site. You can also suppor the site by clicking on the google ads found on some pages. They pay, so you don't have to!

If you are having trouble logging in, be sure that cookies are allowed. We use a cookie to keep you logged in while your browser is open. It contains no private information, and is removed when you close your browser or log out.
